Roadtrack soundtrip: the 110 songs we're listening to on the road

Driving twelve thousand-plus miles means you're in the car A LOT.  Let's say we manage to drive an average of 60 mph over the course of the entire trip.  That's 200 hours of driving.  Almost ten days of dotted yellow lines and butt-flattening highway (and a lot of backroads) to fill.  Anyone who knows us is familiar with our impeccable -- shall I say trailblazing? -- taste in music.  Artists from Beethoven to Miley Cyrus have suggested that we have been and continue to be the primary inspiration for their best work.  This is, of course, just plain fact.  Look it up on your Google machine.  It's not bragging if it's true, right?

Actually, we're not above listening to crap.  Total crap.  Like, even Pitbull.  [Ugh, Pitbull.  What a waste of a human.]  Whatever makes the hours between destinations a tiny bit more entertaining is pretty much our only standard.  I thought I'd go back and check the stats on what our most frequently played songs are.  So, here it is, the definitive road trip soundtrack for Boomtown, USA 2011 -- one hundred and ten songs from our iPods, dozens of radio stations, a few CDs, and friends' playlists.

  1. I spy Katy Perry! Go West Coast. And quite a spread here. I know how easily good music can turn annoying when you're trapped. Good job not killing anything yet!

  2. You were not kidding when you said you have a mix of great and total crap. Which of you should I be judging for Nicki Minaj?

  3. There's WAY worse than Nicki Minaj on there... That song has something like 300 million views on youtube (literally). Kind of scary. But actually you can't really judge either of us for it -- blame every radio station in the country. About 15 of those songs have been playing on a non-stop loop for the past two months. Blame Ryan Seacrest and the Top 40.
